Euro 2024: Germany Thump Scotland 5-1 in Opening Match

Hosts Make Impressive Start

Germany made a statement in their opening match of Euro 2024, thumping Scotland 5-1 at the Allianz Arena in Munich.

Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz starred for the hosts, with Musiala scoring the opening goal after just four minutes. Wirtz added the second just before half-time, with Timo Werner, Kai Havertz, and Leroy Sane completing the rout in the second half.

Scotland's only consolation came from a penalty converted by Callum McGregor in the second half.

The victory was Germany's biggest ever win in a major tournament opening match and set them up nicely for the rest of the tournament.
